Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team reached their maiden championship series after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Down 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" following his team's loss at their home ballpark, but commended their work in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
