Recent Information Surface Regarding the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the tragic demises of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the house. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
The source also pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes descriptions of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
