Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation advisers testifying at parliamentary committee

We begin with questions from Conservative lawmaker Caroline Dinenage, that oversees the group.

She opens by providing background to the leaked memo prepared by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.

"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it neutral, impartial and fair," he states.

In response to a query whether he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, he responds: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the BBC produces is world class - encompassing informative and non-factual shows."

But he adds: "There exists substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the BBC."

A further former external BBC consultant questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" across fluid and multifaceted topics.

"Was the BBC ready to engage in a genuine discussion and debate and take action?" she asks herself. "In my view, affirmative, they were."
