Battlefield 6's Casual Playlist Ignites Intense Discussions Over AI Players, XP Rewards, and Wait Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but includes several notable changes:
- Each team has just 8 human participants, with the rest made up of 32 bots.
- Activities performed by human gamers award complete experience points, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
- Only two locations can be played: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map.
- Features like Dogtags, accolades, and career stat updates are disabled.
So essentially, this mode lives up to its name: it's a casual version of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume there's nothing wrong, as it provides additional choices for players seeking different ways to enjoy the game. However, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of BF6 fans are upset.
Player Reactions: From Fury to Support
"Gamers prefer real players. Don't repeat the mistakes of your competitors," states a response to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," comments another. Meanwhile, in community forums, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," and someone else lists all the issues they believe to be broken in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."
However, amid the criticism, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's very fun to warm up, human participants prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," says one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and don't play this game 24/7. Allow them to strike a balance," states another. One reply on Twitter clarifies that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," while another applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive."
Constructive Criticisms and Community Feedback
All that said, players have constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. Some users have highlighted that it could increase wait times even longer for different playlists because of the sheer number of playlists in the game already. Similarly, some areas already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a required amount of real players, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots.
Lastly, a major complaints is that a previous feature was promised to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they tried to remove bot farms from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the community compromising halfway, as per a Reddit comment. A different user describes this mode as the developers "making a mistake significantly, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made?
If the development team has proven anything so far with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and acting on feedback. Assignments that were overly hard got fixed very quickly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, if their data shows this recent mode isn't performing to their standards, they will not hesitate to change it again.
